The table includes native species in Germany (including those that are already extinct) from the annexes of the Habitats Directive. Some species are listed in multiple annexes.

The species list is based on Directive 92/43/EEC of May 21, 1992, and its amendments through the "Decision of the Council of the European Union of January 1, 1995, adapting the documents concerning the agreement of new Member States to the European Union" (Decision 95/1/EC), as well as the Council Directive 97/62/EC of October 27, 1997, on "adapting Directive 92/43/EEC on the conservation of natural habitats and of wild fauna and flora to technical and scientific progress."
